Nothing much other than being able to minimize the window using two buttons. I also converted the window to a uxml template so i can (theoretically) load it.

I wanted to do more, but am having issues and don't really want to fight unity anymore. Will post in #🤝advice-and-help soon-ish.

Ricochets are here! Here's some flowcharts and diagrams i used to figure the math out (although the exact implementation is slightly different) and the end results.

The projectiles fare a fair bit worse than the raycasts because the angle calculations happen on a lot smaller scale. Sometimes the dstances are so small it cannot correctly do the math and everything just ends up as 0. I could probably fix it by moving the incoming vector back but i dont think its too much of an issue.

I implemented hitscan weapons with pierce. The weapon forms a "projectile" that raycasts every frame until it either runs out of things to collide with, runs out of damage, or hits something that it can't damage. The resulting raycast is used to form a line that gets shown for an extra 0.02 seconds.

I also tried working on a ricochet mechanism, but run into an issue with needing to semi-recursively call the raycast. It needs to be able to damage enemies if it ricochets into an enemy, but recursively calling the Coroutine (in its current state) won't work. I might have to split the function somewhere...

As for projectile-bullet ricochet, i'll have to revisit my vector maths using what i learned from raycasting (I **hate** `Vector2.Angle()`)

Ever wanted to punch through a wall? Well, you still can't (its not in the feature list). However, you can shoot through walls.

I tried making a destructible tileset code, and while the "destroy" thing works, the "punch through" thing and collision code does not. I'm having issues with selecting the correct tile at high velocities (anythign higher than 50 results in disjoint collision detection). There's also the issue of picking which when it hits a corner but honestly idc

I was also hoping to implement ricochets and deflections today but with the collision trouble im having i kinda gave up on that. I'll probably re-look-into raycasts tomorrow to see if its possible then.

It has been done! You can now walk, crawl, sprint, jump, and crouch! I also rewrote the CanAttack() function to use the playerstate enums and moved it to the weapon class so i can overload it based off of weapon type.

I am missing some animations and now need to work on getting the gun properly aimed. I can't flip it horizontally without messing up my aiming code, so it ends up upside down when i point left. It also needs to include caps on rotation (like it cant point straight up while crawling) I also need to make it so that it is hidden unless you're aiming while crawling (which happens after 2 seconds of not moving while crawling).

Here's what ive been working on for the past couple days. I got shadows to work with the help of @William , added bloom, and figured out how to change the color of the bullet trail (it was in the material not the shader graph...)

I implemented Acklam's inverse norm distribution to make bullet spread normally distributed instead of uniformly distributed. Its not too noticable, but you do get tighter spreads. There is a chance to get z>3, but unless i notice something obviously wrong I won't clamp it.

I also implemented Unity's `ObjectPool<T>` for bullets. I originally was going to make my own implementation but then found out they had their own so I just used that.  Alongside that I made it so that i only have to drag the weapon prefab into the variable slot instead of putting it both in the scene and the variable slot thingy.

I'll have to move `CanAttack()` from  `PlayerMovement` to `Gun` since its dependent on the type of gun. Movement data can be obtained by sending `PlayerMovement` over on instantiation. I've finally ran out of other things to do so expect updated movement from me in a couple days.

Refactoring/Modifying code I learned from watching tutorials. I now have a Gun class with the basics and a Shotgun class that allows for bullet spread. I also made it so that the gun can rotate. I'll add more weapons later.

Future work would have an easy way for me to modify bullet parameters from the Gun class (unless I decide on different bullets per gun, since that has a Projectile class), and making grenade launchers and grenades (just frag for now).

Lastly, I've been procrastinating more movement options. I don't quite like Brackey's code, and am planning on something closer to Digital Design's 2-switch FSM code (its split between transitions and stuff that actually is run). My only concern is if that will work with Unity's animation system.

Been following a platformer tutorial i found to learn how to handle movement. dont have enough time to implement + modify the shooting script before midnight but ill be working on it til i get tired

I finished porting my code over to unity, and it runs, but it doesn't work. Not sure if this is some wired c# array issue, unity using different directions, some enum thing i messed up, me forgetting that c# doesnt have variable = pointer, or me messing up the filter functions.

It's most likely the filter function so I'm checking that first, but the fact that the top left is supposed to be the bottom left tells me i probably also have something wrong with the array.

Today I worked on porting code from godot to unity, and am roughly 60% Done. I learned about ScriptableObjects, UnityEngine.Objects, and the intricacies of C# (and the fact i cant overload enum's `==` operator)

I made actual navigable rooms, it was just making an array of packed arrays of vector2s (horrid, i know). I would do more but ive spent the last 40 minutes trying to implement a lighting system and am tempted to just switch engines

I created a horrendous O(n^4) (technically O(r c x y)) code because Godot 4's `set_pattern()` doesnt seem to work correctly when the position is not (0,0)... The 5x3 squares are meant to represent "rooms". I'll have to figure out how to create a packing algorithm get rooms of different sizes. So you don't yell at me, there is a PackedVector2Array that I didnt want to bother with after being disappointed and lines 11 to 13 will probably become a function so i can just call rooms in.

I tried out the Godot 4 tilemap. Its a lot mroe complex than Godot 3 and I dont understand half the things, but its cool, i guess? I totally messed up the scale (lets just pretend that the character is like 1 story tall or something). The second image is my test PC and chem set. I do like the size of the tiles though.

I made a weapon system to prep for the different weapon types, which I will probably do tomorrow. The script has customizable variables so I dont need to make 10 different script files. It has a mag size and reload speed and bullet speed and stuff. To create a different weapon, you just "inherit" the node (not the script) and then change the sprite and muzzle position and stuff.
