I've *mostly* reworked my grabbing system.  I removed the IK animation for now but grabbing is now extendible without affecting anything downstream.  Naturally a ton of random stuff broke, especially the pizza which I'll refactor later (I had pizzas technically "grab" the ingredients you threw onto them).  I made a showoff video but Discord lowered their size limit from 25 to 10mb!  This might mark the end of the Pizza game (debug) videos 🍕 😭

I completed a single-day game loop now where customers will spawn, generate random orders based on current difficulty (or seed), and orders are scored and saved.  I'm taking a step back now; I'm noticing that while on internship I only work in 1-3 hour blocks some weekends, and when I do I either find random bugs or implement systems as fast as possible, so the overall code quality has dropped quite a lot.  I'm going to refactor existing systems, and try to structure my evenings better to where I spend ~30mins a day progressing on this 🍕

I'm getting started on my UI to actually see what customers are ordering.  I've done a good job of keeping the different systems in this project disentangled; such that even though my UI code is atrocious and hardcoded, who cares?  UI sees the ordering system, but nothing depends on UI.

My project was taking >2min to initialize (that's nothing for Unity, but unbelievable in Godot), then I realized my 500 PBR textures had cached over 40GB of texture info.  It was a lot of manual work to adjust the materials anyways, so I deleted them and switched to cel shading.  

I have an ordering pipeline shown here, getting very close to having actual gameplay loop.  Biggest things still needed are to spawn customers with procedural orders, manage those orders, add UI so you can actually tell what they want, and make a more organized test restaurant.

I'm trying to make some **gameplay** first, then will focus on fixing existing systems.  My grabbing framework is terrible and will need to be replaced to support actual animations.  Other than that, most mechanics are disentangled, but you can see at the end of the clip if I delete an entity, things associated with it (like objects being held), don't reset.

This took so much debugging and mental gymnastics, but so worth it to make my multiple-pizza ordering system look this funny

I am also interested in getting some feedback.  To generalize/expand better, I want orders to be made of more than just pizzas.  I could do things like fries, drinks, salads, etc. that pair well.  But there are two open questions.
- How can I give a customer all those things at once?  I'm thinking I could do serving trays (that function like plates in Overcooked or Plateup), so player combines everything on a tray to lock-in their order, then gives the tray to the customer.  But that is a potentially annoying extra step.
- Should I be able to do group orders?  This game was inspired by Papa's Pizzeria, which is just individual orders in a row, but I think it'd be hilarious to make the player be cook + waiter.  But not sure how it'd make sense to make and serve multiple pizzas all in a single order

Visually it doesn't look like much has changed, but I started working on a new ordering system going in the background.  I interact with the customer, they decides their order, I go make it, I interact with them again, they pick it up, the order gets a score (based off ingredients, time cooked, and how long they waited), they run off with it, they throw it off the edge of the Earth.  I think it's working but it's hard to tell until I make a UI to go along with it.

I made one of those sliders pizza chefs use for long range grabbing (apparently it's called a pizza peel).  I also found out I could make custion editor icons, so converted some internet thumbnails to svg

I applied some random materials to the objects so far to create *Pizza Game RTX*

I wrote an editor script that took the 500+ materials from https://freepbr.com/, assigns the textures to my custom shader in Godot, and writes out each as a material.   Now I can use them as-is or could duplicate and change parameters around as needed

I started setting up a board on Notion to keep track of tasks for the pizza game.  I start an internship in a few days, so I'm hoping that having things planned out will motivate me to work on it in the evenings.

I'm midway through redoing the pizza visuals (not going to keep the fabric textures).  The sauce and cheese now are clumped until they get thrown on the pizza.  I also made a rolling pin which can knead from {dough->deep dish->thin crust}

I'm super happy with my agent; it can do anything the player can do and takes almost no code to make these behaviors.  Here the behavior is a loop where it finds the cheese gun, shoots me 10 times, throws the gun at me, then repeats

We're now on-par with a Skyrim companion's follow AI

I felt like I was adding random features (throwing pizzas, a gun that shoots cheese, etc.) way too much so jumped over to customer AI.  It's moonwalking smoothly

I made a framework where the object I'm holding can provide *any* interaction associated with it when I press a button.  To test, this cube I pick up just spawns some cheese, which will later be like pulling shredded cheese out of a bag

This looks weirdly similar to discovering Oblivion's duplication glitch as a kid and spawning cheese wheels until my xbox crashed

I added cookable dough meshes into the godot scene to see how it looks.  Pizza is served!

I had made a prototype for [Pizza Game (DEBUG)] in Unity.  It worked but was too coupled to keep extending, so I'm making v2 in Godot

toppings on pizza, but letting go of the pizza with toppings attempts to put the pizza on top of itself, breaking the pizza-time continuum

This is just to test that things cook.  They will be pizzas, not burgers
