So today I just made some bug fixes, remade the death sound, and made a game over theme. Not a big fan of it so far, but its better than nothing.

Today I made an animated game over screen with a fun sound effect!

Lots of good work today!
- Boomerangs can no longer go offscreen in segmented room types
- Doors can now have inverted activation logic
- Lots of bug fixes
- Small health and defense pickups
- Heart and armor "pieces" that increase max health & defense
- Player now starts with only 6 health and 0 defense
- Simple game over menu

So today I adjusted the text box dimensions and location, and also added a new Diamond item, to be used for currency. I also made two new sprites for the diamond (Item and HUD)

So today I made more progress on the text box. It now plays a sound and has a triangle graphic. It closes when you press enter and resumes the game. The Voice sound is very likely to be replaced, but its fine for now

Not too much tonight, I made this text bot here to be used for dialogue. It animates each letter at a time and plays a sound. Not anything more than that at the moment

Decent work today
 - Fire is no longer affected by lighting
 - UI sound improvements
 - Settings menu is now available in the inventory
 - working fullscreen button

So today I worked more on the options menu! It now has working volume sliders and some other (not working) features. I also added a menu to the inventory screen and worked on making the UI sounds better

Yup, thats it. had other things to do today. There have also been some slight UI improvements

Not anything extremely exciting today, but still good regardless
- Vast improvements to the dungeon generator
  - Can now generate using alternative tiles
  - Can now generate a floor
  - User can now choose which TileSet pattern they would like to use, instead of being stuck to the dungeon room
  - Some convenient utility functions
  - Can now undo once
- New UI sounds
- New main menu
- Experimentation with lighting effects (will likely go unused, just learning is all)

small but great stuff today!
 - Dungeons now have a functional minimap in the top right corner
  - The minimap works by taking in an 81 byte array (9 * 9) and converting it into an image. This way, if I make something like a level editor, I'll be able to generate maps for the players using code
 - New tool that will later help me make dungeons much faster

LOTS of good stuff today!
- Improved button and door connections
- Room spawners can now activate objects when all enemies are defeated
- New key items can be used to open new key doors
- Items can now be activated and deactivated (deactivated items simply dissapear, activated items reappear)
- Movable blocks now modulate to the correct alternate tile
- Extremely helpful new debug tools
  - Items now display the correct texture and a label indicating stack size
  - Doors now show their correct type and state in the editor
  - Movable blocks now show the correct tile (but not alternate tile) in the editor

Not much time today at all, but I made progress on enemies spawning in rooms. The game keeps track of how many enemies are left in a room. when they are all killed, enemy doors connected to the room will open. Currently, the enemy counter does not go down.

So last night after posting, I quickly updated the button texture to what it is now, infinitely better for sure.

I have also added doors, and the ability for buttons to activate anything with a "set_active" function. There are 3 types of doors: Enemy, Key, and Power (shown). Enemy doors will activate when all enemies in a room are killed (or maybe a specific enemy) and key doors need a key

Not much today as I've got a lot of work on my plate, here are some button textures. Not totally sure I like them just yet, but if not they are at least good place holders

So today I made these new buttons! there are 3 modes: Default, Stay_On, and Toggle, shown from right to left
There are also several different activation modes: Default, Player_Only, Crate_Only, and Fire. The "Fire" button is shown off to the left, and works like a default button, but only activates if the object on the button is on fire

On top of this, I've also been designing some dungeons and puzzles for the game

So today I made the bow and bombs require their respective "counters" and I also made enemies drop bombs and arrows.
I have also now dabbled into global scripts, so overall things should be a bit easier to program

Today I just made some internal improvements to the inventory among a few other changes, arrows can now be picked up and the counter there works

Lots of stuff today!
- Improvements to the tile set
 - Trees & rocks now have better collision, and have shaved off corners so the player can more easily walk past them
 - Water now has a single puddle tile
 - Trees now have inner corner tiles
 - Tile sets are now match-corners instead of match-corners&sides
 - Updated "hard block" tiles for dungeons
- Enemies now activate their AI immediately upon spawning
- HUD now uses mini icons for arrows and bombs
- Movable blocks now take on the collision of their respective tiles
- Movable blocks can now have a "treasure" that spawns in when the block has been pushed far enough

Hardly anything today: Items can no longer be equipped though the HUD if they have not yet first been obtained

Fire can now be spread by projectiles and entities. I also fixed all (known) issues with it. There were also a handful of bug fixes today

So I got a couple good things done today:
- Y sort now works, largely (sprites "behind" render underneath and such)
- New Skeleton Enemy
- Enemies in dungeons now spawn per room, the moment the player enters it. They cannot leave the room they spawned in
- **BURN BURN BURN BURN BURN!!!!!!!!!** (Fire spreads to adjacent tiles)

There are some existing bugs with fire right now, such as fire being placed onto the same tile more than once. They are on my to-do list but ultimately everything is working without any errors and such

I also made the camera behave as if it were smaller in dungeons, providing a much nicer layout for them.

So today I got lots more art done, and also made a secondary camera mode for certain areas, that being a "room by room" camera set up similar to that from the original zelda. The overworld and some other areas will keep the follow camera

So today I made a new torch gadget, expanded the screen size, and played around with camera limits. I’ll show more tomorrow

big stuff today:
- Caves now have reverb
- New underground track (just a draft atm)
- Boomerangs can now retrieve items
- Gadgets now can be selected from the inventory screen
- New custom font

On top of some internal changes, I made boomerangs pick up items!

I was sick today, so not much. The gadget display in the HUD is no longer hardcoded, but will instead display the correct equipped gadget

Just internal changes today. The player script now uses an int instead of an actual resource reference to decide what gadget to spawn. This will be helpful for the inventory selection.

So today I made smaller sprites for the health and defense, and also made a counter for how many bombs and arrows you have. Ignore the "false" under arrows

Not much time today or the following days, as I'm staying over with family.
I made item pickups! Inventory items will not appear in the inventory menu until they have been picked up.

not much time to do anything today, but I did set up this little "gadgets" inventory to display all of the player's items. currently its also just mock up and is always gonna display those 3 things but I did do the very start of the inventory system today.

Good stuff today!
- Player can no longer spawn gadgets during level transitions
- Player's armor points will not regenerate during level transitions
- New sounds made in sfxr
- More tile sprite updates
- Level transitions now have a dedicated location to place the player at (in this case, the player is placed back in front of the dungeon entrance instead of 0, 0)

LOTS of stuff tonight, but really just one big thing
- Internal improvements to gadgets
- Level transitions
- Destructible walls

Not much time to do anything else, rather busy today so this is all I got (although its important)
- New dungeon tile set. Tiles are white, so they can be tinted.
- The master game script now has a "load_level" function that removes the level node and replaces it with the requested level. If the game detects that the level does not exist, you will instead be taken to this "load failed" level. I am going to place a door here that takes you back to your position in the overworld. This way, instead of crashing, any mistakes that happen with loading levels are instantly known to be just an incorrect level name, and players can also make a bug report with the understanding of what the bug was other than "game crashed when I went in the door"

Not much today, but still pretty good
- Pressing Esc will now bring up the new "menu" / inventory screen, instead of instantly quitting the game. 
- *The player can now swap gadget B between bombs and the bow by pressing the DEBUG key* (this is obviously temporary. an inventory does not exist yet, I'm just drafting the UI really)
- New area to the north in the testing area (not really progress, just messing around with tiles)
- Updated tile map with a new tile type and improved "forest" tiles

- Both gadgets can now be used at the same time
- The game now launches in full screen, and captures the mouse
- Fixed a bug that caused enemies to still exist in the world after death
- Updated character sprites, new attack sprites
- New bow gadget
- Boomerang sounds now fade at a distance
- Updated bomb sprite
- Enemies squished into walls while stunned now die instantly 
- The sword can no longer be used while Immobilized
- Bombs now deal damage and knockback

Aaaand here it is! I'm finally learning Godot! After practically one third of my life using nothing but unreal engine, I figured it was time to expand my horizons a little bit, and its been a blast thus far.
