A game similar to NYT connections but 4x4

Today I took a small turn to do some research and initial planning on some ideas for the puzzle creation process to make it even faster than with the tool I already made. I'm trying to see if I could potentially utilize AI to simply help more clearly validate and check for potential connections between categories and words without having to manually set each and every word (within a word list) with those respective values for what categories a word could go to or what words fit in a respective category. This by far is the longest part of it. Coming up with words or categories isn't too hard, its just connecting them to make a complete puzzle, so I kinda wanna see if I can fix that as I was pondering that a good bit and researching into it. Ill still get more of the Java backend done this week, but today ended up being a bit of a rabbit hole of sorts.

Alright for today I worked more on figuring out java and sprint boot to get it implemented in the backend now. It's sort of a slow process as I haven't done java in like 2 years (and never did backend with it), but at least the very main fundamental concepts aren't too different really. But, I do see that my current schema/model structures may need some decent changing as a 1 to 1 port isn't exactly possible (although I kinda knew that'd happen given I was using python anyways).

Today I started making a pretty big change to my backend: I'm porting it over from python fastapi to java spring boot. The main reason I'm doing this honestly is because I started a job that has me using it and I need more experience with it so I wanna use it in my personal project to get me up to speed quicker. So that'll be my focus now for a bit.

For today, I finished the saving feature for draft puzzles and worked more on both testing the tool and creating a puzzle. It’s a little janky but better than nothing. I’ll work on it more this week to get it hopefully more polished and useful.

For tonight I worked more on the tool with some instructional section to help with remembering how certain things work, and also got started with being able to save puzzle drafts that havent been completed.

Today I started working on creating a tool to help me with the puzzle creation process by hopefully making it easier to have words grouped by categories and then I can see what other words in my word list/pool also share those categories, and what other categories they share or have on their own. Basically, just a much easier way to see it once I create the word pool. Then, it hopefully wont be just having to create every puzzle 100% from scratch.

Today I got dragging implemented for my word cards and I got started with adding in a customization menu for themes and a how to play modal.

Today got some good work done with actual gameplay and a result screen and everything. The puzzle is really just a placeholder, its way too basic as of now, and I'm still trying to figure out if I can create a system to create puzzles that doesn't simply require me to completely hand-make them in order to get quality. I'm thinking maybe I can have some sort of long list of words connected with categories that I can reference to at least make it easier, but not for sure yet.
